3 Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your 3D Ultrasound

Blog

If you really want to see what your baby looks like, instead of scheduling a regular ultrasound, see if you can schedule a 3D ultrasound instead. A 3D ultrasound will allow you to really see your baby's features and get a sense of what your baby will look like long before they arrive. Here are some tips that will help you get the most out of your 3D ultrasound.

Start Drinking Water Well In Advance Of Your Appointment

If you want to get a clear picture of your baby, you need to make sure that you are drinking lots of water.

In order to get the best view of your baby, it is important that you don't just drink a lot of water on the day of your appointment, but in the week or two leading up to your appointment.

Drinking the recommended amount of water every day for a week or two will help ensure that the amniotic fluid around your baby is clear, which will make it easier to see your baby. Additionally, there needs to be enough fluid around your baby for the ultrasound to work as well. So, fill up your water bottle and make sure you are drinking up well in advance of your appointment.

Pay Attention To Your Baby When Scheduling A Time

When you select a time for your ultrasound, make sure that you are taking your baby into consideration. If you want to see your baby move, you need to schedule your ultrasound for the time of day when your baby is typically moving around inside of you.

Even though your baby is still inside of your womb, your baby is already developing a sleep and waking pattern. Write down when you feel your baby move and when your baby is still. This information will help you schedule your appointment for a time when your baby is naturally active.

Drink Some Juice

If your baby is asleep, despite your best scheduling efforts when you go in for your 3D ultrasound, bring some juice with you. Often times, the sugar from the juice helps wake up your baby and get it moving. For some women, a little bit of chocolate does the trick and for others, just walking around wakes up their baby.

Employ whatever method works best for you so that you can see your baby moving around during your appointment.

If you want to get the most out of your ultrasound, make sure you know what your baby's sleep and wake schedule is when planning your appointment, and start drinking water as soon as you set your appointment in order to get the clearest picture of your baby.
